We want parents and campers to be fully prepared for the Camp Eagle adventure. Should there be any unanswered questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the camp director.
Camp Eagle offers a portal for parents to keep track of their camper’s activity during their Camp Eagle session. After registering, feel free to sign in and explore the portal.
The Parent Packet helps both parent and child child prepare for camp. The parent packet covers:
- Payment and Refund Policy
- Health and Safety Updates
- Eagle Bucks
- Camp Store
- Mail and Packages
- Preparing your camper
- Parent Lodging
- Driving Directions
for Individual camp
Parents are strongly encouraged to help prepare their camper for the week(s) at Camp Eagle. It's possible that there are fears within both child and parent about their week away. By preparing early, some fears can be dispelled. Here are a few creative ways to prepare campers for their week of camp:
- Plan a weekend stay with a friend to give campers a taste of what being away form home is really like.
- Acknowledge their fear and be overly reassuring that everything will be okay and that they will have a blast.
- Register for camp with a friend or another kid and regularly have them over to talk about camp and allow the two to begin forming a bond.
- Visit the camp on a weekend before the summer so they can meet some of staff and see the property.
- Build a general excitement about the week by regularly talking about it and telling friends and family about the exciting week your son or daughter has ahead of them this summer! Speak of it as though it is an accomplishment.
The ideas are endless, and concerned parents will know how to best prepare their child. Drop off time is not the place to prepare your child. Rather, plan to make drop off as short as possible to alleviate any anxiety.
Anticipate the change that will take place and be ready as a parent to help foster the change when they return home. Sending your child to camp is a decision you will not regret!
When am I contacted?
A Camp Eagle staff member will contact you only in the case of a medical emergency or special need.
Can I contact my kid?
You are free to send letters and packages by mail or drop them off on opening day at the mail station. Emails to your son or daughter may be sent via your online account. Phone calls are allowed only in emergencies. The Camp Eagle Headwaters office is open Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5 pm. You can reach someone there at (830) 683-3536. Letters and packages should be sent in advance to their week at camp or can be dropped off on the first day of camp. Address should read:
6424 Hackberry Rd
Rocksprings, TX 78880
Can I send money with my kid?
Spending money should be purchased in advance on your online account or can be turned in at drop-off to be converted into Eagle Bucks. This credit card type system will be kept by your child's counselor to prevent lost or stolen money. Any left over Eagle Bucks will not be refunded at the end of the week but will put into the Camp Eagle Scholarship Fund.
Can I send a cell phone or ipod with my kid?
Please leave all electronic devices at home and encourage your camper to use this week to listen to the sounds of nature. We do not allow kids to use their electronic devices anytime during the week. There is no cell phone service within 30 miles of camp.
What are your dropoff and pickup times?
Drop off is Sunday at 4 pm.
Pick up is Saturday at 9 am.
These are strict times as we have little time to turn camp over before the next group of campers arrive so please plan to arrive accordingly. Here are some stopping points along the way that will give you some idea how far away you are: San Antonio---2 hours, Kerrville--1 Hour, Junction--1 Hour, Rocksprings--40 Minutes, Fredericksburg--1.5 Hours, Garven Store--40 Minutes (If you like beef jerky, stop in!). It is wise to fill up on gas at one of these "final stops." There is no cell phone service within approximately 30 minutes of camp.
Where do we go when we arrive?
When you enter Camp Eagle property, follow the signs to the Headwaters campus. Staff will be there to greet you and give you further instructions.
I am traveling a long distance. Are there any hotels in the area?
There are hotels in Rocksprings (30 miles) and Kerrville (70 miles). Contact us if you would like a recommendation.
