Weather, Climate, & Emergency Preparedness

We’ve got it all: hot days, cold nights, spring-fed rivers, limestone bluffs, and trails through the trees.

Climate & Conditions At Camp Eagle

Competitor magazine declared Camp Eagle “Texas’ best adventure destination.” Temperatures can range from the 40’s overnight (depending upon the time of year and elevation of activity) to the 100’s mid-day. Our property has hiking trails, limestone bluffs, and a river. Be prepared for rain, heat, cold, and changing terrain. Expect to spend days enjoying the outdoors and nights in your cabin or lodge room.

Camp Safety Act Update

May 2026

On September 5, 2025, the State of Texas approved new legislation focused on youth camp safety following the tragic flash flooding in the Hill Country this past summer. Senate Bill 1, known as the Heaven’s 27 Camp Safety Act, and House Bill 1, the Youth CAMPER Act, were both signed into law on that date. As a Camp Eagle family, we continue to grieve with and pray for all who were impacted by this tragedy.

The state finalized the new safety requirements in January and has continued to provide updated guidance, most recently in April. Our team has attended each guidance meeting offered by the state and our camp association. We have met with local officials to ensure we remain current on all requirements, updates, and best practices.

We have updated our Emergency Action Plans in accordance with the new law and are working through the final steps of the license renewal process with the Texas Department of State Health Services. That process is moving smoothly, and we anticipate our inspection and license renewal soon.

As part of that process, we have added new path lighting and an emergency broadcast system, both of which strengthen our ability to communicate quickly with staff and guests in an emergency. Safety has long been part of Camp Eagle’s culture. Our goal is not simply to meet compliance requirements, but to continue building a culture of safety that honors the trust you place in us.

After our updated plan is reviewed and approved this May, we will send a summary of the new safety measures and protocols to parents and group leaders of all registered campers so they know what to expect before arriving at camp. This summary will also be posted on our website.

Thank you for allowing us to serve your family and friends. We do not take your confidence in Camp Eagle lightly, and we remain committed to caring well for every camper, guest, and staff member who comes to this beautiful property.

We are installing flood level detection and alert systems.  They will be in place by the summer of 2026.

Our summer night-watch team is resourced to respond to flood alerts promptly, in advance of potential threats.

All times are subject to change. Rides to Camp are one-way rides to Camp Eagle. Parents MUST pick up their campers at Camp Eagle on Closing Day for all sessions. The cost is in addition to normal Summer Camp fees. All registration and payments must be completed before the child’s week of camp. No refunds will be available. Rides to Camp must be purchased on the Thursday before your session starts. If you do not see the bus option available for your registration, then it may not be available for that session. Please reach out to us to confirm if the bus is available for your session.
