It's Time for an Adventure

Big, exciting adventures make an impact. At Camp Eagle, our goal is to remove the distractions of digital devices and give your child the gift of real adventure. They'll rappel off of ledges, climb rock faces, walk along the side of a cliff, and swim in the Nueces River every day. We make the Bible come alive with interactive experiences that feel like a whole other kind of adventure, but leave your child changed. It is just one way we seek to inspire Christ-like change.

FAQs

Preparing Your Camper

We want your camper (and you) to enjoy Camp Eagle. So, here's our advice on how to prep your camper for adventure at camp!

Start Talking Now

If your camper has never been away overnight, try a weekend at a friend's house. This will also give you time to talk through any concerns or anxiety you or your camper may have about camp.

Get Active!

If your camper is unaccustomed to lots of physical activity, prepare for camp adventures by slowly increasing their activities in the weeks leading up to camp.

What to Pack & What to Leave at Home

Download our full packing list and parent packet here! It includes all the information on what to bring for your camper to be fully prepared for a Camp Eagle summer experience.

Here is a quick look at what NOT to pack:

  • You’ll need your cell phones for the trip but once you’re here, we suggest you leave it in your room.
  • Walkie Talkies
  • Knives, weapons, or anything sharp
  • Pets—not even little cute pets.
  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Your Own Harness / Helmet
  • MP3 players
  • Electronic Devices

Food Allergies & Picky Eaters

Campers need a lot of fuel to power them through their adventure activities each day. Our Director of Food Services plans a diverse menu to meet the cravings of all of our campers. The dining hall provides 3 meals a day plus dessert. A special diets room is available for campers to store food allergy-friendly meals and snacks when necessary. Fruit is available at all meals and a salad bar is open during lunch and dinner. Gluten and dairy-free meal alternatives will be made available for campers upon request.

Campers get a chance each day to stop by The Nest to purchase snacks, smoothies, and treats.

Squirrel Bags & Camper Credit

Squirrel Bags

Check your account for this fun add-on feature. Upon arrival to camp, your camper will receive a swag bag with Camp Eagle gear that you've picked out to help get them right into the theme of the summer from day one. Camp Eagle gear options include:

  • backpack
  • hat
  • water bottle
  • sweatshirt
  • summer theme shirt
  • journal

Camper Credit

Help your camper get the most out of their time at The Nest and protect your wallet from overcharges by buying your camper Camper Credit. This is a set amount of credit that your camper will get to use at The Nest over their week at Camp Eagle. Once the credit is used up, your camper won't be able to make any additional purchases unless you decide to add more $ to their Camper Credit. Visit your account to apply this add-on to your Headwaters registration.

Writing to Your Camper

Camper Mail

We encourage you to email your child daily. We provide a “Camper Mail” service for $10 that you can find on your account under “Purchasable Add Ons”. Instructions for using this service will be emailed to you just before your camper arrives. The one-way email service will be active the day your camper arrives at camp. Messages are delivered every day at lunch. We find that the best messages are ones where you tell your camper how proud of them you are and how you are looking forward to hearing about their time at camp. Refrain from telling your camper how much you miss them, or other phrases that might make them homesick. It’s always good to close with, “See you on Saturday!” Remember, campers do not have access to computers at camp and won’t respond to your email (unless they write a letter home).
